Sensual Sunday with Moira Callahan (@AuthorMoira)

Sensual-Sunday

Welcome to a Sensual Sunday everyone. It’s been an exciting first week on the Naughty Quill’s blog getting to know all the amazing author’s involved in this new endeavor we’re taking on. Frankly I’m fan-girling more than a little over here being surrounded by these amazing ladies.

Which brings us to moi, Moira Callahan. Proud Canadian and “newer” author. I started writing in early 2014 and submitted my very first novella to Evernight Publishing after getting some wit and wisdom from a dear friend. Choosing a publisher for your pride and joy (with fear making your knees quiver) is a lot harder and scarier than it first appears, but that’s a topic for another day.

I started out as a Contemporary Erotic Author, moved into a little Mystery and Suspense in my first series and have slowly been spreading my wings to include Paranormal with a story in the Bad Alpha Anthology along with a Christmas story this past year. Now I’m expanding a little further and out into the MC world with my newest release.

I’m the quiet sort when I first meet a new person. Not because I’m shy, not by any meaning of the word but because I’m the sort to think, evaluate and make a preliminary determination of what I think you can handle. Once you get to know me I’m one seriously sarcastic individual and I take no prisoners, ever. I do tone this down on social media as I don’t want to scare everyone away, but in person it definitely becomes clear. I also have a mouth that tends to move before my brain is fully engaged and often times what comes out is as much a surprise to me as everyone around me. This is not always a “good” thing, but at least it’s never boring.orologio caff

What else is there to know about Moira? Well, I’m a loud and proud coffee addict and am an absolute beast without that first morning brew. Not even joking. If I could find a way to have it pumping into my veins constantly, 24/7 I would. I’ve always had an artistic bent – can’t draw to save my life mind you, but I will admit I can doodle up one amazingly cute stick figure if I am so inclined. For me though I’ve always leaned more to the written word which helps given this path I’ve chosen to take.

I’ve always loved to read and still do to this day whenever the opportunity arises, mostly romance in various genres, my bookshelves at home testify to that, but I also love a good mystery or horror. I have many of my fellow authors at EP in my eBook pile that I’ve read or am waiting for time to get to.

And there you have it, me. Wishing you all a lovely week ahead, now go and enjoy your Sunday already!

Satisfaction Saturday with Kacey Hammell (@KaceyHammell)

saturday

Good morning everyone! Welcome to Satisfaction Saturday.

Why the specific Saturday title? I’ll be your host every Saturday, and I am going to hope that the end of the week (or the start of the weekend) will be with some form of great satisfaction – on both our parts! I hope for a satisfying week of writing and I wish you all the satisfaction the week will allow you. *g*

Okay, so who is Kacey exactly? For those who aren’t familiar with me / my writing, here we go…

I’ve always been an avid reader. From the time I could read, my parents rarely found me without a book in hand, nose buried, and having to repeat my name numerous times because I’d escaped to my own world. I’ve always loved the romance genre and have dreamed big because of it. I’ve been infatuated with knights in shining armor, long haired men on Harleys, shifters who growl, and of course the happily ever afters. I’ve always been shy in nature, very quiet until getting to know someone, and I admit I have trust issues! *g*

I’m a mom of three, happily married to my own hero and run a farm with my family in Ontario, Canada. I had the opportunity nearly fourteen years ago when my youngest son was a wee lad to review for a couple of romance review sites and enjoyed that immensely for many years. I became friends with many authors who introduced me to other authors who needed beta readers, which led to critiquing and on to acquiring submissions for a couple of small press publishers. With my husband’s gentle prodding – I remember the bruises!! – he encouraged me to write something myself. As much as I fought, he’d planted the bug in my head and it was all I could think about. Now, many years later – and after a long hiatus when I lost my father – I’m back into writing full time and enjoying every moment of it.

I love the voices in my head, the chance to touch readers’ hearts and still find it hard to believe this is my life. To share the passion I held as a young girl, sharing the love of books and stories with my kids and now ultimately many like-minded souls who enjoy escaping to different worlds and meeting new people on all these adventures … there’s nothing like it. I always dreamed of being “just” a stay-at-home Mom when I grew up and I’ve been blessed by the hubby to do that for over fourteen years now, but I’ve been doubly blessed and always inspired by the opportunities my imagination and the Muse have given me.

I have written many different genres –Contemporary (mainly), Paranormal (cat shifters & a ghost), Suspense (I LOVE cop shows/movies) and am delighted to include as much spice, naughtiness, and heat as I can within them all. Romance of course being the key factor in all of them, bringing two souls together who need one another. There’s no better genre than romance!

I’m also a huge classic movie buff – another topic for another day perhaps.

I love Betty Boop, Supernatural, Fast and Furious Franchise, Disney and Snoopy. There’s so many things I can tie all of my loves into, and I look forward to sharing that with our readers here at Naughty Quills.

I hope to see you every week, where we will dish about this and that in the writing world and spend a very satisfying Saturday together!

Until next week,

xoxoxo

Wicked Wednesday brought to you by April (@AprilZyon)

WIckedWednesdays

Hello everyone and welcome to Wicked Wednesday’s with me, April Zyon. I’m following the ever wonderful Doris O’Connor and let me tell you, she’s a hard act to follow! Love that lady. She’s such a fabulous writer, and one that I’m honored to call friend along with the other ladies on this blog.

Okay so a little bit about me…

I’m April Zyon and I write erotic romance books for Evernight Publishing (<3 them so much!). I write or have written Cowboys, Sci-Fi, Contemporary, Futuristic, Paranormal, Military and I’m working on a little bit more such as Mafia, Dark Erotica, Menage a Trois and so on.

My first book with Evernight Publishing came out August 24, 2014 and it was called “Coming Home, Massey Texas 1”.

Wow, its been a long ride. I’ve loved every moment of it as well. I’ve written 14 books as of this post (my 15th will be released on March 4th), I’ve been the recipient of a few Evernight Reader’s Awards, a Preditors and Editors award, and I’ve been a best seller on Amazon, All Romance eBooks in America and a few other countries as well.

Let’s see… more about me.

I tend to ramble – a lot. I work third shift as a dispatcher for an emergency services company. I use those nights to write, or watch movies, or edit… well you get the point.

I have learned a hell of a lot in the last couple of years and I really hope that what I’ve learned can help others out as well. I’m always willing to chat and share information so just hit me up if you ever want to chat or have questions on anything at all.

So since its Wicked Wednesday I’m going to be very, very good to you all and end this session with some amazing pics that are simply delightfully drool-worthy. 🙂

Hello and Tuesday Ramblings from Doris (@mamaD8)

Hello beautiful - vector lettering with hand drawn heart. Calligraphy phrase for gift cards, baby birthday, scrapbooking. Typography art.

Hello everyone and welcome to our first post. I feel all kinds of honoured to be kicking off the Naughty Quills blog.  When I was asked if I wanted to participate in this blog, I jumped at the chance. After all, Evernight was the first publisher to take a chance on an unknown author, when they published my Debut Novel Lure of the Blood back in November 2011.

What a momentous occasion that was. I had no clue what I was doing, and everything I’ve learnt since then has been trial and error, with bits of wisdom passed on by my fellow authors. Four and a half years and sixty two releases later (phew), I know a little bit more.

So, here at Naughty Quills, we thought it would be a good idea to pool our resources and to let all you aspiring, new and seasoned authors, for that matter—after all, you can always learn something new, right?—know what worked for us, what didn’t etc.

Hopefully, we’ll keep you entertained along the way 🙂

So, I hear you ask, who is this strange bird, called Doris, and why should we listen to her?

Doris O'Connor Image

Well, for starters, you don’t have to listen at all. I do tend to ramble and go off on a tangent, especially when I’m ranting. Something I’m quite fond of, and do frequently, so you have been warned. It’s the German in me, I’m afraid. I tend to say what I think. So, what you see is very much what you get with me. I can’t be doing with nonsense, and will not shy away from saying the truth, which doesn’t always make me popular, but hey… sometimes the truth hurts, right?

Now, before you all run away screaming in fear, I’m really quite easy to get along, usually.

*stop sniggering in that corner*

No, really, I am. If you met me in person, I’d be the quiet one in the corner. 🙂 And believe it or not, I do tend to keep my opinions to myself, for the most part. Of course, if you ask me what I think, I will tell you exactly what I think.

*snort*

Still, you need a thick skin in this publishing business, that’s for sure, though why you do, is a topic for another post.

For now, let me just say hi. I’m looking forward to posting and seeing what my fellow quills come up with.

Let me fill you in on what I write, which could take a while, as I have a very unpredictable and downright dirty muse. Believe it or not, I never set out to be an erotic author, but from the very first manuscript I penned with several awkward sex scenes, my characters seemed utterly incapable of keeping their hands off each other, or doing as they’re told, for that matter. I very quickly realized that I was a panster, and thus at the mercy of these ornery characters of mine.

I write Dominant alpha heroes with sassy heroines who give them a run for their money. My heroines might be submissive in the bedroom, but they certainly know to assert themselves in every other area of their life. Hubby/Sir would say they all remind him of me, lol. To be fair parts of my very own Lord and Master, or Domly type, as he’s known when I’m snarky, is in every one of the heroes that I write, especially when they growl… I do like a man who growls… much to the amusement of my editor at Evernight, who is convinced that I only write shifters so that she can’t pull me up on the amount of growling which goes on…

Brown bear hello

I shall neither confirm nor deny this allegation. Suffice to say, my non shifting heroes tend to growl, grumble etc.…

*whistles innocently*

As you may have gathered from the above, I write contemporary and paranormal BDSM, as well as Sci-Fi, time travel, ménage (mmf, mfm), MM and FF occasionally. See, I told you, my muse is unpredictable, and I never know what she will throw at me next. I like to think it keeps my writing fresh, and so far readers seem to agree, which is just as well, because I couldn’t write any other way.

When I’m not writing, I look after our brood of nine, ranging in age from 25 down to 4. Two of the older ones have flown the nest, though return regularly with their respective partners in tow, which is always lovely, even it makes the house even more chaotic than usual. We also have a cat, who thinks she own us, and an adorably goofy German Shepherd Cross, who is scared of his own shadow, and likely to lick you to death when he sees you. Once he’s barked at you, just to make sure you know what a big guy he is, and to put his foot down, you understand.

As you can gather there is never a dull moment in this house. Sometimes I think we lurch from one drama to the next. Well we do have four (!) teenage girls in the house right now, as well as two boisterous little boys, who seem utterly incapable of sitting still, or agreeing on anything, apart from when they announce that they’re hungry…. Again… five seconds after they’ve eaten….

*head desk*

Hubby/Sir and I have been together for twenty eight years, married for twenty six, and in a Dom/sub relationship for the last five, when we finally officially embraced our kinky sides, if you like.

So, that’s me in a nutshell, or rather a long rambling post, that I hope hasn’t sent you off to sleep.

Till next time, folks. Do stay naughty.
