Raven Says…you are kinky, I am kinky, everyone is kinky, get over it…

Raven rambles on just what is a ‘certain sort of story’ anyway?

There’s more than one way to skin a cat…er write Kink or BDSM. Write anything really. But this post is on Kink and BDSM. Sort of.

Clear as mud aren’t I? Well it all stems from someone asking me how I know what I write is BDSM. Why is it kinky.

They of course had a very definite idea what a kinky BDSM story was and I so did not fit their bill. It didn’t matter that I said there is no one true way of defining it. The ‘your kink might not be my kink thing but we both love our type of kink’ works for us all. Because I didn’t fit their idea, QED, I did not write BDSM or kink.

Not that is where I got my mad and had to hold it in. Because come on, get real. Who says what’s right and what is not? Who actually puts down the rules ‘if you do ‘a’ it’s BDSM, if you do ‘b’ it isn’t?

No one.

Why?

Because it is wrong.

You know something? We are all kinky. Yes do not gasp and roll your eyes. Tell me, who says what is kink and what is not?
Who decides that missionary is non kink and woman on top is? Or to be blindfold is kinky but to stare at your partner’s ears is not?

You get my drift?

Horses for courses. Or what is you kink might not be mine, but as long as it is safe, sane and consensual, then it is fine.

Yeah.

Exactly.

So I so tried to explain that. That as in all aspects of life, everything is different to everyone. Some people enjoy spanking, whipping and power play. Others adore forced orgasm, dominance or foot tickling (Now me? Touch my feet and die. Tell me not to come yet… Le sigh…)

See what I mean?

So in books, as in life BDSM and kink is very personal. Some people write it hot, hot and extreme. Others not so overtly hot but till BDSM. And others a mixture of BDSM, kink and sweetly sensual.

Question, How do you define which is what?

Answer? You can’t.

Why?

Because as I said earlier…

My kink might not be your kink.

Your kink may not be mine.

But it’s is safe, sane and consensual,

then it’s BDSM and fine.

Remember that as you write and read…

Happy everything,

Love Raven x
