Celebrating Your Successes: Freaky Friday with Michelle Roth @mroth_author

The path to total romance author-world domination is an uphill climb to say the least. There will be days when you might wonder.. is it even worth it? We all have them. It’s a normal, healthy part of the process. My only advice on this is that if you’re going to mope about your perceived failures (and god knows you will), be sure that you’re celebrating your successes EVEN HARDER.

Example:

Got an awesome review on Goodreads? Post it on your Facebook page. Squee. Quote it in your promotional pieces. Someone out there loved your work and felt connected enough to the story to tell other people about it. That’s HUGE.

Got a crappy review on Goodreads? Sulk about it for a few hours. Rage silently because you think it was total BS. Complain to your spouse about it, or to a close friend. It’s a one-way trip to self doubt most of us have been on at one time or another.

Now.. both of those things happen on a regular basis. Some love our work, and some hate it. With the limited amount of emotional energy that we’ve got to put toward life, which one of these makes more sense to celebrate?

About Michelle Roth

Michelle Roth is a novelist from the Great White North (Toronto, ON). When she’s not disappearing into foreign lands, or making two perfect strangers that she invented fall in love, she’s probably curled up somewhere with a glass of wine and a good book. In her spare time she is typically hanging out with her awesome boyfriend and their two equally awesome cats. She likes taking road trips to nowhere in particular, cooking elaborate meals then making other people do the dishes, and being nerdy on the internet. Her books are currently available on http://www.bookstrand.com/michelle-roth
