Inspiration with April Zyon @aprilzyon #WickedWednesday

Today on Wicked Wednesday I am talking about Inspiration. It comes in all shapes and sizes and truly it could be anywhere if you just look. I’ve had so many people ask me the following question…

“Where do you get the inspiration for your books?”

That one is easy to answer. I get inspiration everywhere. I can look at someone in the car next to me and I’m thinking to myself… what if… and a story will start. I can see a couple arguing and I wonder what its about so I begin to tell myself a story.

Inspiration can come from anywhere, literally. Another place is people watching.

I’m a huge fan of people watching. I know how cliche and terrible that sounds but seriously, do it some time and you will see your wheels turning and a story starting. All that I can say is if you don’t take the time to imagine and dream you will never find that story inside of you.

My favorite place for inspiration however is in my dreams.

Make Your Dreams Happen

No, seriously. You have no idea how many of my dreams have made it to the pages of my books. I’ve always been a dreamer, I’ve always dreamed in color and have loved being able to translate those dreams into my books. One of my first book series that I ever wrote was based solely on a dream.

So I suppose what I’m trying to say is you never know where you will find inspiration. It’s everywhere, you just have to look. Dreaming, doing, just never give up. Never give in. Just do it. If you want to write a novel, you can do it. Even if it is fifteen to twenty words a day, just as long as you never loose your dedication to making your dream happen.

Never Let Go of Your Dreams

If you are serious about writing a book and you’ve found that inspiration to write it, do it. Never let your dreams die, never let anyone take them away. Live. Dream. Write.

As I said, even if it is a few words a day, write it.

Now, on to the best part of Wednesdays….

  1. Oh, those cowboys… I don’t write cowboy stories, but I so wish I did, when I see those pics, lol. Just don’t think I’d do them justice. Not much need for cowboys in the south east of the UK 😉

I was nodding along to your post. I, too, dream so many of my stories. I’m most put out when I have to wake up some days right in the middle of a good bit!
    Fab post, April.
