Hello everyone!! Welcome to Ravenna’s Monday Mumblings! I’m the last of the Naughty Quills authors to write an introduction post, and if you’ve been reading since last Tuesday, you know I have some very big shoes to fill.
I’m thrilled to be part of this group of amazing and talented Evernight Publishing authors!! My name is Ravenna Tate, and some of you may also know me as Carolyn Rosewood and Tara Rose.
I’m published with Evernight as both Carolyn and Ravenna, but I only write as Ravenna now. I’m published with Siren-Bookstrand as Tara. You can find information, including buy links, to the books under all my pen names HERE on my website.
But enough with the promo…
I’ve known most of my fellow Naughty Quills authors for years online, and have had the privilege of meeting April Zyon in person. We live in the same general area of Indiana, which if you don’t know, is a state close enough to the middle of the USA to be as flat as a pancake. April and I try to hang out once a month to eat good food, and drink just enough that we can each still drive home. But mostly we do it to talk about writing and about our lives.
One of these days I will travel to meet the other authors.
I’m married to a wonderful man named David. If you follow my posts on Facebook, you know I talk about him quite a bit, as well as about our daughter, Nicole. In my day job – the one that pays the bills and health insurance – I work for a large US-based insurance company, doing a variety of things. Before that, I worked as a registered nurse in critical care at various hospitals in the Cleveland, Ohio area, where I lived for the first 48 years of my life.
David is also an RN, and in fact we met in nursing school. Funny story, there.
I also have a BA (Bachelor of Arts) in Psychology from Kent State University. When I came home from Kent and decided to go to nursing school, there were a few classes I needed before I could begin my clinicals. One of them was Human Growth and Development. Now, let me explain. As a psych major, I had already taken that class. I even showed them my syllabus, comparing it with theirs. Same class. Something about semester and quarter hours not matching up, and next thing I knew, I was enrolled in a class I had already taken, for five hours every Saturday morning, for an entire quarter. UGH.
Well, being the rebel I am, I walked into that first class about two hours late because fuck them, right? I did apologize to the instructor at the break, and explained my plight. She was cool about it. David, however, still remembers that day, and he remembers how indignant he felt about me waltzing in there like I didn’t care, hours late for class.
He also remembers what I was wearing. Yeah. He was smitten from day one.
We started dating toward the end of following quarter, during which we had Pharmacology together. And the Human Growth and Development class? Easiest five-hour A I’ve ever received!
We’ve been married 28 years as of October. Nicole is back home with us now. She has a BS in music performance, and no that BS does not stand for Bull Shit although for the usefulness of the degree it might as well. She’s a topnotch barista at a local Starbucks.
That gorgeous cat to your right is Kitty. Yes, that’s her name. She is technically Nicole’s cat, but now that she’s here with all of us, she’s adopted our entire family.
My one claim to fame? I went to high school with Drew Carey. It’s true. He was part of my friend group when we all worked at McDonald’s on Memphis Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio.
So, that’s me! I hope to see you all on Facebook. Be sure to say hello!!
