PS4 Name Change Option Now Available

Starting today, PlayStation 4 owners can finally change their online PlayStation Network IDs.

For something so coveted, you have to dig pretty deep into the PS4's menus to get it. If you are anxious about confusion with friends over your name changes, you can also display your old PSN User ID alongside your new one for added clarity.

You can change your PSN name using your PS4 or a web browser (PS3 and Vita are not supported). Officially, only games released for the first time after April 1st, 2018 have been created to support ID changes, and there's still one unspecified title that has problems. Enter the Online ID you want, and follow the prompts until you complete the process.

Therefore, PSN users that change their ID are being urged not to play Disc Jam, Everybody's Golf, Just Dance 2017, LittleBigPlanet 3, MLB The Show 14, 15 and 16, Onrush, The Golf Club 2 and Worms Battlegrounds.

You can revert back to your old user ID as long as the name doesn't violate the Terms of Service.

A PS4 name change feature will launch later today, it has been announced. Sony also will not allow anyone to take your old PSN ID names.

You're going to want to think carefully before you finalise your new online ID.

Trump says not looking to reinstate family separation policy
Officials recently said it could take two years to identify potentially thousands of children and parents separated at the border. Nielsen did "not resign willingly", according to several reports, though she recognized her job was "in limbo" for weeks.

Q: What kind of issues could I potentially run into?

The standard issues are generally fixable or annoying, but will not affect your gameplay much. Some games might not be compatible with PSN name changes.

The worst thing that can happen is that your name may be removed from a leaderboard.

The "critical issues" are a bit more disconcerting. Since then Sony has tested a plethora of games to make sure the feature works. Some of the games, by Sony's account, may cause "permanent game errors and data loss". Currently, there are only 10 games on the list with known critical issues.

You'll need to contact PlayStation support to revert back.

Sadly, changing your PlayStation username is not as simple as typing in a new name and getting back to your favorite game.

Before taking the plunge, however, know that there are issues associated with changing your ID, such as your previous handle remaining visible to you and your friends.
