Microsoft today revealed that Windows Insiders in the Fast ring will soon be testing a new version of Windows 10.

Windows 10 Update Improvements Fortin said that Microsoft had taken notice of "feedback" from its customers about Windows 10 updates.

All Windows 10 users, including Home edition users, will be able to pause an update for up to 35 days (a pause action is in effect for seven days, but it can be renewed five times consecutively).

Let's be clear though - the nagging will continue, but there'll be less, and the control element is most definitely yours. This feature will improve system performance by intelligently coordinating Windows updates and Microsoft Store updates, so they occur when users are away from their devices to minimize disruptions.

Part of the reason for Microsoft's annoying update policy in Windows 10 thus far has been about keeping your PC secure. If this one goes wrong, it could completely destroy the remaining credibility of WaaS.

The company plans to split feature updates from general update checking on Windows 10 devices that run the May 2019 update or newer versions.
