Amazon building AirPods competitor, AirPods 3 to be waterproof

The latest Powerbeats Pro in-ear music makers have just been revealed by the USA firm and they look set to offer a range of upgrades including a smaller and lighter design, better sound and 9-hour battery life.

Beats on Wednesday unveiled its first new product in two years: the fully wireless Powerbeats Pro.

Though cheaper, the headphones will "look and act similar to AirPods" and will be created to sit inside users' ears without adopting clips, Bloomberg reports, adding that Amazon is striving for better audio quality than Apple's somewhat-middling earbuds. That simply means that the next iPhone by Apple could share some battery juice along with other iPhones or with new AirPods through its wireless charging case.

The Bloomberg report says that Amazon's new wireless earbuds will be available during the second half of 2019. Additionally, the batteries are likely to support two-way wireless charging, a feature recently released by rivals Samsung SSNLF and Huawei. The water and sweat resistant Pros are a significant step up from the existing Powerbeats because they are truly wireless in the same way AirPods are wireless.

The Powerbeats Pro don't feature active noise cancelation, or ANC. ANC actively filters out external noise at certain frequencies and requires power to do so.

The feature will allow you to charge just about any QI-based device with your iPhone, as the phone will work as a wireless charger itself. With the charging case, you can get a combined 24 hours of music playback.

Borderlands 3 goes up for preorder, launches in September
That many recent games have been revealed as timed exclusives for Epic is probably feeding the current internet rumours. After all, Captain Marvel soared to $1 billion in worldwide box office despite the anger of internet naysayers.

There's a lot of difference between the Powerbeats Pro and the AirPods 2.

Bloomberg said Amazon's Lab126 hardware division is now in charge of making look-a-like AirPods that comes with Alexa.

The earbuds are designed for athletes and Apple says it worked with real athletes to know what they want.

AirPods 2 last for 5 hours on a single charge. We'll see if we can pick a pair up for review.

Powerbeats Pro will come in Black, Ivory, Moss and Navy for $349.95 AUD.
