The firm relied on Apple's LCD screen needs for over half its revenue in the year ended March 2018. The iPhone XR now uses LCD display - which is very much less vibrant than an OLED display - compared to the better OLED displays found on the iPhone XS and the XS Max, in order to cut production costs.

The wireless charging case option feature in the AirPods 2 backs Kuo's statement regarding the future iPhone's reverse wireless functionality. This is a way of making the display thinner while also trimming costs. According to a report from DigiTimes, Apple's taken notice and is planning to release a 5.4-inch phone in 2020.
