Thanks to global community for de-escalating Pak-India tensions: FM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said there is panic among the terror groups on the account of decisive action taken by India across the border.

According to the Foreign Office, the Pakistani envoy took Prime Minister Khan's advice on bilateral ties with India before his departure to New Delhi.

In the wake of Pulwama attack on Feb 14, 2019, which was immediately followed by the Indian accusations against Pakistan and violations of Pakistan's sovereign territory, the ensuing escalation brought the two nuclear states on the verge of war.

The ministry reportedly arrested 44 suspects from across several groups that have been terrorizing Pakistan, among which a dozen suspects belong to the Jaish-e-Mohammed group, whose member launched a suicide bombing in Pulwama that led to the deaths of the 40 CRPF personnel.

"The United States notes these steps", said Robert Palladino, the USA state department spokesperson, on Thursday about the ongoing crackdown in Pakistan.

The relationship between India and Pakistan has historically been troubled, but this week, tensions escalated with both countries launching airstrikes against one another.

"We all need to unequivocally condemn terrorism and its perpetrators", Rajiv Chander, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, told the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Thursday after Islamabad had criticised New Delhi.

India claimed it targeted a JEM training camp, but Pakistan denies it, adding that it does not harbor any terrorist groups. Pakistani officials say this crackdown is part of a long-planned drive and not a response to Indian anger.

"As was stated during the Joint Press Conference on February 28, the Indian navy remains deployed as necessary to protect National Maritime Interests", a statement issued by Indian navy said.

Another resident, Rubina Bibi, 32, said she wants peace "so that we can live without leaving our own villages" in Kashmir.

Islamabad also captured an Indian Air Force pilot after a February 27 dogfight between the two air forces.

He said that in Jammu and Kashmir, "the central problem is cross-border terrorism and Pakistan's use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy".

Kashmir has been divided between India and Pakistan since the end of British colonial rule in 1947.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday has said that Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (CPEC) will help in strengthening ties between both the countries.
