While we wait for the official box office numbers to trickle in, Pinkvilla spoke with the woman of the moment, Brie Larson aka Captain Marvel. The humor, especially, is built in to the other Marvel films and I wonder why there is almost none in 'Captain Marvel.' The answer, I think is in the film's star, Brie Larson, as hot-shot fighter pilot and kick ass warrior Carol Danvers. That means no kiss, no boyfriend, no romantic interest that she might be on the outs with by the time Avengers: Endgame arrives on April 26 (which she'll also be seen in). By the end of her intense 9-month training schedule, the actress was able to deadlift well over 225 pounds, which is impressive for someone who considered herself pretty weak by most people's standards. Finally, Thor summons his Stormbreaker which whizzes past Captain Marvel into Thor's hand. And it's usually about a man. She then vomits out the Tesseract on Fury's desk. The movie-reviewing site shut down audience reviews until the film actually came out, citing their concern that trolls would rig the numbers. She won't be defined by any guy. What is interesting is that Captain Marvel seems to appear out of thin air, possibly suggesting she now has teleportation powers.
Carol does have relationships in the movie; they're just platonic.
It's a bond that feels fresh in a film genre that hasn't always passed the Bechdel test (which measures whether two female characters in a movie have a conversation about something other than a man). "Cool reflection of stars and space stuff on Captain America's eye as we zoom in on him and they warp out of there".
Nick Fury's bond with Goose is one of the highlights of Captain Marvel. The movie's attempt to trigger nostalgia through pop culture is only outmatched by "Ready Player One".
In addition to her friendships with Maria and Samuel L Jackson's S.H.I.E.L.D. There's also a young Agent Coulson, an explanation of how Nick Fury lost his eye, and a goddamn kitty named Goose.
"It's good that people can imagine girls and women taking over and basically being in charge, which is a new thing in the movies", she said.
Liverpool vs Everton player ratings: Origi invisible and Salah to be dropped?
They never had a lot of chances, maybe half-chances but not real clear-cut ones. We are not going to win three, four or 5-0 every week.
"It was just practical; it wasn't by design", co-director Ryan Fleck agrees. Brie Larson as the titular character tried her best, but there was no third dimension to her story or her personality. "Most of what we do is developing a strong bond and trust with an animal and gradually get them used to working on the sets and comfortable in the commotion of film making", the trainer said.
Yes, Carol is a woman, and this is the first Marvel movie centered on a woman. This is compared to the $11 million Wonder Woman made in 2016, and that film went on to take in $103 million in its opening weekend.
I think the answer is no.
Could there be a same-sex couple in the MCU?
To be fair, Captain Marvel opens up a new can of worms because she's so insanely powerful, and I predict that they're probably going to keep her in the cosmic realm because as her movie shows, nothing on Earth is much of a threat to her.
Captain Marvel isn't groundbreaking cinema, but it's energetic, nostalgic and amusing.
