Maroon 5 Avoids Politics - and Entertainment - During Super Bowl Halftime Show

The Daily Beast said: "Maroon 5's Super Bowl halftime show was just as mind-numbingly boring as you feared".

Perhaps spurred by Scott's donation, Maroon 5 also announced this week that they would make a $500,000 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America in partnership with Interscope Records and the NFL.

Brimming with countless hit songs, Maroon 5 had a plethora of tracks to choose from when determining their set list.

There was no acknowledgment of the controversy surrounding the performance, which came about only after numerous other artists - including Rihanna, Pink, and Cardi B - passed on the opportunity to headline in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.

While the network's leniency towards Levine's shirtless move is being used to examine sexism in the media, Twitter users also slammed the musician for his fashion choices onstage.

The two senators, both African-American, are expected to battle for the influential black vote in the Democratic primaries. He also highlighted how he still lives in inner-city Newark, and is the only senator who lives in a low-income community.

It lacked heart and soul, and it will go down as one of the worst Super Bowl halftime shows in the last decade.

"This is the Fyre Festival of halftime shows", ESPN writer Kavitha Davidson tweeted. While some actually meant to watch the New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams, many admittedly only tuned in for the halftime show.

Another viewer joked that she would turn her chair around for singer Adam Levine, referencing his job as The Voice coach. But the opening song "Harder to Breathe", the group's first big hit from 2002, showed that this was a performance that was going to be harder to care about.

"Yeah this halftime show was a failure and a disappointment", penned a fan. Live Super Bowl coverage on CBS will begin at 2:00 p.m. ET.
