Seattle awarded new XFL team to play at CenturyLink Field

MetLife Stadium is already home to two professional football teams - the New York Giants and New York Jets - but beginning in 2020, a third will move onto the premises. "New Jersey couldn't be happier to be one of the eight host sites for the XFL's 2020 revival season".

Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Seattle and Tampa Bay will also be involved, as too will St. Louis, which was home to the Rams in the National Football League between 1995 and 2016.

XFL is coming back and at this point, it seems like Vince McMahon and his company are planning something to make this as big of a deal as possible.

All of the XFL cities already have National Football League teams except for St. Louis. Dallas will play in the Texas Rangers' ballpark, because they need a tenant for it now that the Rangers are getting another new stadium. Luck promised a quicker pace of play with the overall goal of keeping games under three hours. Each team will have a 45-man active roster and the league will play a 10-week regular season.

Vince McMahon speaks about the XFL in 2000. Rules will be simplified and broadcasts will air fewer commercials.

Luck says they will look for the best coaches and players available and majority will have college and National Football League experience.

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer to retire after Rose Bowl
It was at Florida where Meyer became a household name, winning his first two national championships (2006, 2008). Meyer had a wildly successful run in Columbus, which he looks to culminate with a Rose Bowl victory.

Luck feels there is a deeper talent pool than ever before.

McMahon is investing $500 million of his own money into a business model similar to the one used by Major League Soccer when it started, with all the franchises owned and operated by the league. The AAF is also promising a first-year salary of US$75,000, which is close to double the value of the CFL's minimum salary of $54,000.

McMahon said there is a long term financial commitment to the XFL, and that the game play will be innovative and exciting. "We pledge to bring St. Louis a team deserving of a passionate and football-starved fan base".

"After months of research and consideration, we're thrilled to announce the cities and venues of the XFL's eight inaugural teams", Luck said.

These leagues have gone from vague ideas to actual things in a short time.

It seems they have a pretty good point.
