Winds threaten to wreak havoc on frigid Macy's Thanksgiving parade

The New York City parade has been an annual tradition since 1924.

Last year, it was announced that the band was selected to perform in the parade representing the state of Ohio.

The gay couple's sign of affection aired live on television, as Americans nationwide waited to watch the 16 giant character balloons including SpongeBob and Charlie Brown.

"We like to be able to debut the best of Broadway, but we also like to show those viewers what they want to see", she said. "These are some of the themes reflected in our musical comedy and we are very proud to be the very first LGBTQ kiss on the Thanksgiving Day Parade".

Representatives for Macy's and broadcaster NBCUniversal haven't immediately responded to inquiries.
