Caris LeVert Suffers Gruesome Leg Injury During Brooklyn Nets Game

During the second quarter, LeVert jumped up at the rim to try and block a shot, but his ankle buckled horribly as he landed.

The 24-year-old American, who has played all three of his National Basketball Association seasons with the Nets, was wheeled off the court in pain after a gruesome injury in Monday's 120-112 Brooklyn loss at Minnesota. LeVert had already been showing signs of a massive improvement, averaging 18.4 points per game to start the season.

"Fortunately, tests performed this morning revealed that there are no fractures and only moderate ligament damage", Nets team orthopedist Dr. Martin O'Malley said in a statement.

The arena was silent as medics attended to LeVert, who had 10 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds when he exited the game.

LeVert was in the midst of a breakout season for the Nets, one that sadly appears to have come to an end.

Most observers - guilty as well, for the record - were assuming after seeing the injury that LeVert was done for the season at a minimum.

"There was really just no words", teammate Joe Harris said after the game. "We didn't talk even when we came in at halftime". How will the system have to be adjusted to accommodate for the loss of their leading scorer and go-to threat in close, late situations?

"The physical part, it was tough", said LeVert back in January of 2017 during his rookie season. "Prayers up for Caris LeVert!".
