TMZ reports that the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office has released its toxicology report on Mac Miller, revealing the rapper died of "mixed drug toxicity".

Fentanyl, a powerful painkiller that tends to be cheaper and more potent than heroin, has played a major part in the USA's opioid crisis.

An empty bottle of alcohol on the nightstand and white powder residue on a rolled up $20 dollar bill in his pocket were found, in addition to a slew of prescription pills in his bathroom. He was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. The assistant later told police that he had been "in good spirits lately and had many positive, ongoing projects", and that McCormick "struggles with sobriety and when he "slips" he consumes [substances] in excess".

The night before his death, Miller was reportedly casually hanging out with friends and was watching football.

Miller died in September. A "Celebration of Life" concert with performances from Chance the Rapper, John Mayer, SZA, Travis Scott, Miguel and Anderson.Paak was held last month in Los Angeles and live-streamed on Miller's official Facebook page.

Ariana Grande, who famously dated the late rapper, shared a black-and-white photo of him on her Instagram page in tribute, and a video.
