Steve Pearce wins World Series MVP

Steve Pearce slammed a pair of home runs and David Price tossed a seven-inning gem to power the Boston Red Sox to a 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers and their fourth World Series title in 15 years on Sunday.

The Dodgers, the National League champion and in the World Series for the second year in a row, were trying to win their seventh title and first since 1988.

Mookie Betts and JD Martinez also scored home runs as the Red Sox took the best-of-seven Major League Baseball final 4-1.

He now starts a new streak with perhaps the most important RBI of his career, putting the Red Sox up three games to one in the World Series.

Pearce powered Boston's offense through the final two games of the series, collecting seven RBIs on three home runs and a double to lead his team.

That was the Red Sox's privilege this year, and Price said doing so brought back memories from the 2008 Rays, when as a rookie he closed out the pennant-clinching game, over the Red Sox, to reach the World Series for the first time.

After Aaron Judge played "New York, New York" on his way out of Fenway Park following the Yankees' Game 2 win in the ALDS, Boston celebrated to the classic track, after finishing off New York in four games at Yankee Stadium.

Nonetheless, Boston and LA rewrote the record books in game three, which was the longest World Series game ever. He batted cleanup in each of the Dodgers' 16 postseason games, and played every inning.

Progress came incrementally for Price, who went 42/3 innings -one out shy of qualifying for a win - in Game 2 of the ALCS against the Astros.

For Boston, starter David Price was brilliant.
