US Mega Millions jackpot hits $1.6 billion after no winners

According to the Mega Millions official website, the numbers are chosen at 11 p.m. ET on Tuesday night, in the WSB-TV studio in Atlanta, Georgia.

The previous record Mega Millions jackpot was $656 million, which was shared by winners in Kansas, Illinois and here in Maryland on March 30th, 2012.

If ticket holders fail to win the Mega Millions jackpot, they can also pursue their dreams by participating in the Powerball lottery, which will hold its drawing Saturday for an estimated $430 million jackpot.

In 2016, a $1.58 billion Powerball prize was split three ways by ticket holders from California, Florida and Tennessee. McIntyre noted one Bay Stater asked about New Hampshire's lack of a state income tax as somehow a factor in their ticket strategy. No one has won since July 24. If a single victor was awarded the prize and took the cash lump sum, they would end up with $565.6 million. The jackpot could rise even more by then, depending on how many tickets sell over the next few days, Medenica said.

Oil prices slump after large build in US stockpiles
So you know, there's one thing that could really impact oil prices beyond sort of the geopolitics, and that's demand. Kardor said Iran was scheduled to sign a new oil contract with a foreign company within two weeks, ISNA reported.

The first winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at BP, 6500 S. Kedzie Ave., in Chicago, and matched all five numbers - 15 - 23 - 53 - 65 - 70 - to win the prize. Only a 2016 Powerball drawing remains larger, and will likely continue to do so, as that jackpot soared to nearly $1.6 billion.

The probability of winning the top prize by perfectly matching all six numbers is a staggering 1 in 302,575,350.

Tickets cost $2, which seems like a relatively small price to pay for a chance at becoming rich. "I'd be more surprised if it doesn't get hit". The jackpot for Tuesday's drawing is an estimated $1.6 billion.

The good news, you have another chance to win.
