Out of hospital, Chris Sale’s next step unknown

Alex Bregman and the Houston Astros are brimming with confidence, even after a Game 2 AL Championship Series defeat to the Boston Red Sox.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters following Sunday night's ALCS Game 2 win over the Astros that Chris Sale, who checked in to Massachusetts General Hospital on Sunday night with a stomach illness, should be fine and is hopeful the staff ace will re-join the team when the series comes to Houston.

Price fell one out short of qualifying for the win, which would have been his first in 11 postseason starts.

"Seems like now he understands who he is as a hitter", Red Sox manager Alex Cora said.

The first pitch of Game 3 is set for 5:09 p.m. Tuesday, and the Sox are leaning on Eovaldi to get a win in Houston.

But through four games in the ALDS and the opening game of the ALCS, Betts hit only.200 (4 of 20) with just one extra base hit, a double, and two runs batted in.

Price left leading 5-4 with two on with two out in the fifth before Matt Barnes struck out Gonzalez to end the inning and then pitched a flawless sixth to earn the victory. Upon returning to the Bronx, the Red Sox routed the Yankees 16-1 in Game 3, then eliminated them a day later with a 4-3 win.

Kimbrel retired the first two batters in the ninth, then George Springer hit his second double of the game.

Met Eireann warns Wicklow to be prepared for storm tonight
The Met Office said there will be strong winds and rainfall up to 10cm, leading to possible flooding and hard driving conditions. Winds of up to 130km are expected in coastal ares along with heavy rain and a risk of flooding.

And when left fielder Andrew Benintendi captured the game's final out at the wall, they warbled the words to the Red Sox's anthem "Dirty Water".

Cora said he'll probably use the same lineup as Game 4 against the Yankees' CC Sabathia in NY, meaning Ian Kinsler should start at second and Christian Vazquez behind the plate.

Starting any series on the road means it only takes one win to swing home field advantage back in your directions.

Rafael Devers did everything he could to prove he's deserving of another start at third base in this series, but the Sox will continue to play the matchups. He's played a couple of balls off this wall nearly like a home player. He also turned a walk into the eventual winning run when he danced around the bases on a wild pitch and two passed balls.

That, he insisted, is all he ever cared about.

Price had been 0-9 in his first 10 career postseason starts, and his teams had lost all 10 - the longest such losing streak in baseball history. And just last week, Price failed to make it out of the second inning in Game 2 of Bostons division series against the New York Yankees. Price was given one more shot to complete the fifth but was pulled after walking Tyler White on four pitches. "We do our talking on the field". Just venting? Who knows? "I've got to go out there and pitch my game [Tuesday] and I can't have any distractions". In 1975, Fred Lynn hit.305 with one home run and eight RBI in 10 postseason games. Bradley never left the box, and claimed that the ball hit him, which would make it a foul ball. Again, give the upper-hand to Houston, who counter with Dallas Keuchel.

Price had spoken before the game of the importance of that first inning in setting a tone; he walked two but escaped with a pair of strikeouts.

On Monday, the Red Sox announced that Sale has been released from the hospital and cleared to rejoin the team Tuesday. That, indeed, was Boston's own beleaguered bullpen procuring those last precious outs, mostly without incident.
