Federal District Judge S. James Otero in Los Angeles had indicated during a late September hearing that he was skeptical of Daniels's claim on First Amendment grounds.
Trump has denied having an affair with Daniels.

Avenatti blasted Trump as a "disgusting misogynist" and "an embarrassment to the United States" over his degrading comments toward Daniels. "A total con job, playing the Fake News Media for Fools (but they know it!)", Trump tweeted.
She claims Trump lied when responding to her allegations that he forcibly kissed and groped her in 2007.
Charles Harder, Trump's lawyer, said the amount of the award for Trump's attorneys' fees would be determined later.
