A suspect was in custody after at least five people, including three infants, were slashed at an overnight New York City day care facility early Friday, police said. The third baby is one month old and suffered a stab wound to the stomach. Her relationship with the children wasn't immediately clear.

The suspect also stabbed a man in the leg, who is thought to be a father of one of the children at the daycare, but it wasn't clear if one of his children was stabbed.

A police spokesman said victims had "multiple stab wounds", adding they are looking into reports some of the victims are children.

A 911 call at 3:44 a.m. alerted police to the assaults at a multi-family building at 43-67 161st Street.

Ford revealed her identity on Sunday in a Washington Post interview. "Every shred of evidence points to the fact that Dr. Ford's life has already been badly disrupted by death threats and other intimidation. "We should proceed as planned".

A 52-year-old woman is the alleged attacker.

Charges are pending. Police say a butcher knife and meat cleaver were found at the scene. All are in critical but stable condition.

A motive for the stabbings hasn't been determined.

The alleged attacker is expected to recover.
