Prime Minister Scott Morrison nominated drought assistance as a top priority along with national security and economic growth when he was chosen by lawmakers in his conservative Liberal Party on Friday to replace his predecessor Malcolm Turnbull.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and National Drought Coordinator Major-General Stephen Day are greeted by Australia's Minister for Agricultre and Water Resources David Littleproud after arriving at Quilpie on August 27, 2018.

"I want to move on from the events of last week", said Ms Bishop at her final media appearance as Foreign Minister.

Ousted prime minister Malcolm Turnbull will reportedly quit parliament this week, in another headache for Australia's rattled government which will temporarily lose its tiny one-seat majority. The hard-right lawmaker who led the charge against Turnbull but lost the leadership ballot to Morrison was sworn in as home affairs minister Monday.

"I thank Julie for her support, guidance, and superb leadership".

Dutton tried again after the resignations and it turned into a three-way contest with Dutton, Morrison and Bishop.

The American Peter Dutton found himself caught in the crossfire of Australian politics recently and has been having fun with the case of mistaken identity.

Mr Shorten said a lot of Australians would've preferred former deputy prime minister Julie Bishop as leader.

That raised the question of whether Cohen would cooperate, and, crucially, what his cooperation would be worth. The President flew with a large entourage aboard Air Force One, including two lawmakers and several aides.

Both are supporters of Mr Abbott, who was involved in Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton's attempt to seize the leadership last week.

Meanwhile, Turnbull, the outgoing Australian Prime Minster said, "we are the most successful multicultural society in the world, and I have always defended that and advanced that as one of our greatest assets", he said. Josh Frydenberg is the new treasurer. Moderate Christopher Pyne was promoted to defence minister.

Now, text messages show the pair have been in contact with the new prime minister, with both broadcasters claiming they are prepared to have him on air.

As for Taylor, the PM said he would be looking forward to the new Energy minister to "bring the prices down" as it was part of the minister's job.

Mr Morrison welcomed Mr Abbott's comments.

"Government stability is being restored, we are getting on with the job", he said.

Mr Turnbull's seat in the wealthy Sydney enclave of Wentworth is traditionally a Liberal safe haven, although a backlash against the government's political infighting could make this less certain.

Mr Dutton has since been in conversation with Amazon Australia as well as other keen distributors to bring the brand down-under.
