Amazon Prime members lose discounts on pre-ordered games in one week

"As a result, universal ad-free viewing will no longer be part of Twitch Prime for new members, starting on September 14".

Launched in 2016, Twitch Prime was created to drive more subscribers to Amazon's Prime program ($99 per year), whose benefits include free shipping on millions of products and access to Prime Video.

The Amazon Prime discount on new game preorders is also being changed, from 20 percent off the purchase price to a flat $10 Amazon credit.

This comes as Twitch - which lets gamers record and share in-game videos - realizes that advertising is "an important source of support for creators", according to the company's blog post.

All other Twitch Prime benefits, like monthly channel subs, monthly games and loot, and chat badges are not changing. Should viewers simply want to skip a single channel's ads, they can pay that channel's monthly subscription cost, though this varies on a channel-by-channel basis. So you might get up to one year of ad-free viewing if you act fast. With ads, the platform and game creators can get a cut. Will you miss ad-free Twitch Prime? If you already have an annual subscription, or if you upgrade to an annual subscription before September 14, you will continue with ad-free viewing until your next renewal date.

Worst floods in a century kill 67 in India's Kerala state
Cochin International Airport temporarily suspended flight operations citing rising trend of water inflow at the airport. During the next 24 hours, rains will remain heavy over the state of Kerala which will further aggravate the situation.

Although Twitch is dropping the ad-free perk, it's promising new "premium benefits" to the Prime program in the near future. But, more pertinent for a lot of people, this forces you to spend the full $60 and then use that other $10 somewhere on Amazon. It now offers a $10 store credit bonus on select games under the more general (and free) My Best Buy rewards program.

Of course, you can always sign-up for Twitch Turbo to gain ad-free viewing.

"More limited" has been the trajectory of the Amazon Prime pre-order deal for some time now.

Thanks to every Twitch Prime member for supporting Twitch and your favorite streamers.
