North Korea on Thursday threatened to stall the denuclearization of its missile program if the USA continues to abide by an "outdated acting script" amid Washington's calls to enforce sanctions against the regime.

North Korea remains unchanged in its will to implement agreements made by the top leaders of North Korea and the United States during their Singapore talks, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quoted a foreign ministry spokesperson as saying on Thursday.

The statement accused United States diplomats of "baseless allegations" against North Korea.

Waving mini white and blue "unification" flags - a pale blue silhouette of the Korean peninsula - the head of the North Korean group, Ju Yong-gil, said the football game will "create momentum for reunification throughout all classes".

At Trump and Kim's historic summit, the two signed a document stating that Pyongyang would work toward "complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula".

Yet Washington was still insisting on "denuclearization first" and had "responded to our expectation by inciting global sanctions and pressure" it said.

Earlier on Thursday, North Korea's Rodong Sinmun said in a commentary that ending the Korean War is "the first process for ensuring peace and security not only in the Korean peninsula but also in the region and the world".

Three South Korean firms were caught importing coal and iron from the North previous year, Seoul said Friday (Aug 10), in an apparent violation of United Nations sanctions imposed in August 2017 on the nuclear-armed state.

The statement cited USA officials who are "going against President Trump" and his intent to advance relations between the two nations, saying that the president has expressed "gratitude to our goodwill measures" implemented as part of the agreement.

The United States was "attempting to invent a pretext for increased sanctions against the DPRK by mobilising all their servile mouthpieces and intelligence institutions to fabricate all kinds of falsehoods".

Satellite images from last Friday indicate North Korea has carried out additional activities to dismantle a key missile launch facility, the Washington-based 38 North think-tank said on Tuesday.

The UN Security Council first imposed sanctions on North Korea after its first nuclear test in 2006.
