Philippines' Manny Pacquiao (L) reacts after he knocked down Argentina's Lucas Matthysse during their world welterweight boxing championship bout at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur on July 15, 2018.

"I am ready. Everything is under control", said the 39-year-old Pacquiao.

It was a dominant, devastating display as "smoking hot" Pacquiao registered the 60th win of a fabled 23-year career that now looks certain to extend beyond his 40th birthday in December. I hope it is not the last fight under MP Promotions here, as this is one of the big fights in Asia, which was shown in more than 200 countries.

In his first fight without trainer Freddy Roach, who he parted ways with after the Horn defeat, Pacquiao said he became much smarter with his training.

The southpaw dropped his opponent for the final time with a devilish left uppercut and the victory improved the eight-division world champion's record to 60-7-2.

Malacañang, meanwhile, also extended its felicitations to Pacquiao who scored his first knockout in nine years.

Commenting on the win, Pacquiao said Matthysse could probably not take his punches, and was possibly surprised with the change in his fighting style under new coach Buboy Fernandez.

"I've already spoke to the prime minister and the equipment we used in Kuala Lumpur for this training will be donated to the government".

Referee Kenny Bayless stepped in to bring a conclusion to the exhibition in the seventh round after Pacquiao had dropped the big-hitting 35-year-old for a third time. We weren't pushing hard like when we were young.

"You have proven time and again that you are not just a public servant, but one of the greatest boxers of all time", Duterte said in a statement.

"I'm so happy. His win is everyone's win", said security guard Jason Ladica.
