Along with those there's Suicide Squad 2, directed by Gavin O'Connor, which will star Robbie and is again rumoured to feature Leto, and a previously announced Joker/Harley Quinn movie, from Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, in which both actors would star.
While I think it's fair to give Leto a shot playing the Joker in a movie that gives him more screen time, I'm a little concerned that focusing on the Joker as the main character will ruin the appeal of the character for many.
On top of all that (!), Warner Bros. are also developing another Joker movie that will stand apart from the DCEU (or whatever they eventually end up calling it).
And while many fans of Suicide Squad will be pleased to hear the news, the critical reception of Jared Leto's "The Joker" was polarizing, with some praising it, and others hating it.
Summit With North Korea Is Back On
Kim Yong Chol spent more than an hour in the Oval Office where he was spotted shaking hands with the president. On Friday, Trump told the press that the "letter was a very nice letter" and offered to share it with them.
The internet has not reacted positively to the news of Leto getting his own movie.
The Clown Prince of Crime looks set to receive his own spinoff film. Joaquin Phoenix is in talks to play the character in that film but no overlap between the two is expected. Jared Leto's Joker will ride once again, but it is unclear of how or when Warner Bros. and DC Films plan to release the projects. Much like how Warner Bros. stressed previous year that that film did not mean Leto was out as the Clown Prince of Crime in the DCU, it would seem Phillips' film isn't off the table either. Yet.
