Why is India so tolerant of Venezuelan and Iranian tyranny?

India said on Monday it abided by sanctions imposed by the United Nations but not those imposed by any other country, such as those announced by the United States against Iran.

The government statement was issued following a meeting between the Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

They don't seem to say so publicly in New Delhi, but I suspect India is also afraid that Trump will push Iran solidly into the China camp, creating a Sino-Muslim geopolitical bloc on India's northwest.

Iran is India's third largest oil supplier and there were apprehensions about possible impact of the United States decision on India's oil imports.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived here on Monday for talks in the wake of U.S. pullout from the 2015 nuclear deal, calling the agreement deeply flawed.

Remember when the Warriors swept the Rockets?
The Warriors have been suffering from their own injury woes, missing Andre Iguodala for the last two games - both Houston wins. Trust the next man ahead of us. "I think Klay may have been in the far right corner so we had the floor spread ".

Iran's notorious Evin prison and the paramilitary group Ansar-e Hezbollah have been hit with new USA sanctions, for allegedly committing "serious human rights abuses" against its political dissidents and critics of the government. India is looking at developing Iran's Chabahar port as a gateway to enter landlocked Afghanistan and Central Asia bypassing Pakistan. "Jab seema par janaze uth rahe him, to baatcheet ki awaaz acchhi nahi lagti (when funerals are being held on the border, talks of dialogue does not sound good)", said Swaraj.

During his visit, Foreign Minister Zarif will call upon Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Bhawan. The countries are also discussing the barter-like system to avoid USA sanctions, Sputnik reports. "These included bilateral cooperation in the areas of connectivity, energy, trade and promotion of people to people contacts", the release said. India should partner other key democracies to push back with full diplomatic strength, including, if necessary, hauling the U.S. into the WTO dispute-resolution body and introducing a UN General Assembly resolution against unlawful extraterritorial sanctions. The only foreign power helping India with strategic projects like the Arihant nuclear submarine is Russian Federation, which today is willing to sell India the lethal, interceptor-based S-400 Triumf air defence system and also lease a second nuclear-powered submarine.

Swaraj also said India would continue trading with Venezuela, but there was no plan to use its local cryptocurrency in oil trade.

In a statement issued after Ms. Swaraj's meeting with Mr. Zarif on Monday, the MEA said the Ministers had "positively assessed the implementation of decisions taken during the visit of President Rouhani to India..."
