Jason Kidd and Joe Prunty are not. He had the Hawks to the point of contention in the Eastern Conference just a few short years ago.

Listen as Steve and Jeffrey Gorman explain why Budenholzer will be a ideal fit for the Milwaukee Bucks and the impact he will have on the Eastern Conference for years to come.

The Bucks may have had a disappointing season with only 44 wins, a first-round exit and a midseason coach firing. They're hoping that Budenholzer will be able to take them to the next level.

The one with the Bucks may have been the best available, thanks to All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and a new arena next season. Budenholzer is inheriting a very talented roster headlined by "The Greek Freak". Khris Middleton would join in as well. Milwaukee will need to upgrade their front-court this offseason, but there is plenty of talent for Budenholzer to work with. Ettore Messina also made the final round of interviews, but never had the luxury of meeting key players as Budenholzer did in Milwaukee on Wednesday morning.

He previously worked under Gregg Popovich as an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs. Budenholzer was named NBA Coach of the Year that season. The New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns also met with the former Hawks coach, before agreeing to terms with their new head coaches. He and the Hawks mutually agreed to part ways last month with two years remaining on his contract, allowing Budenholzer to pursue other opportunities.

Expect to see the Bucks end up looking very good for their decision to hire Budenholzer.

The Bucks waited a week or so after they were eliminated from the playoffs, but Budenholzer was the top candidate from the get-go.
